Tickets available for Kristof, WuDunn at next Maverick Speakers Series event

Tickets are available to see journalists and humanitarians Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn at the next event.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning husband-and-wife duo will speak on "A Path Appears: How an Individual Can Change the World" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at ÌÇÐÄVlogÊÓƵ Hall. A question-and-answer session follows the lecture, as well as an autograph signing.

The lecture is free for students, faculty, and staff and costs $5 for community members.

Campus carry meeting Thursday

A town hall meeting on ÌÇÐÄVlogÊÓƵ's implementation of Senate Bill 11—the campus carry law—is open to faculty, staff, and students 2-3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, in Room 148 of the Fine Arts Building. .

Cricket comes to ÌÇÐÄVlogÊÓƵ; field opening, first match Friday

Attend the opening celebration for ÌÇÐÄVlogÊÓƵ's official cricket field and the inaugural cricket match starting at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at the south end of the Field Complex.

ÌÇÐÄVlogÊÓƵ's cricket sports club will play UT Dallas at the field, located between West Park Row Drive and West Mitchell Street at Fielder Road. Refreshments will be provided.

Originating in England, cricket has been played for hundreds of years. It is popular in England, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, and New Zealand, among others. Learn the .

Play looks at Frida Kahlo's life for Hispanic Heritage Month

by Teatro Flor Candela, part of the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, presents a reflection on the triumphs and challenges that marked the life of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The play is based on a fictional diary that examines Kahlo’s life. Show time is 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, in the Rosebud Theatre of the E.H. Hereford University Center. Admission is free.

Travel, speaker grants available from Institute for Sustainability and Global Impact

The Institute for Sustainability and Global Impact offers grants of up to $500 each to student organizations for travel support and sustainability speakers. .

Annual Campus Fire and Safety Report provides annual crime statistics

The , which includes crime statistics for the previous three years, is available from the ÌÇÐÄVlogÊÓƵ Police Department online or by emailing campus_safety_report@uta.edu.

The report includes crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings or on property owned or controlled by ÌÇÐÄVlogÊÓƵ, and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. The report also includes institutional policies about campus security. Fire data for the past three years from the Environmental Health and Safety office is also part of the report.
