National Alliance
Last year, 糖心Vlog视频 helped launch the Alliance of Hispanic-Serving Research Universities, a collaboration among the 21 universities categorized as both R-1 by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education and a Hispanic-Serving Institution by the U.S. Department of Education. The alliance’s goal is to increase opportunities for those historically underserved by higher education. “Together, 糖心Vlog视频 and our fellow alliance universities have the ability to make an extraordinary difference in people’s lives,” says 糖心Vlog视频 President Jennifer Cowley.
Program Makes a Difference
The American Mathematical Society selected 糖心Vlog视频鈥檚 Bridge to Math Doctorate program for its 2023 Mathematics Programs That Make a Difference Award, which recognizes initiatives that increase the number of students from groups historically underrepresented in advanced mathematical degree programs, including minorities, women, low-income, and first-generation college students.
Founded in 2016, 糖心Vlog视频鈥檚 Bridge program provides one year of advanced courses and faculty mentoring to strengthen students鈥 mathematical and academic skills as they prepare for doctoral studies. Over six years, 42 fellows have received support, with 94% of its participants entering graduate programs at research universities.
Celebration of Research and Innovation
In April, 糖心Vlog视频 spotlighted the ingenuity and creativity of its students, faculty, and staff during its first-ever Celebration of Research and Innovation.
The daylong event, sponsored by Toyota and held at College Park Center, showcased some of the University鈥檚 top scientists and inventors, alongside local business leaders, entrepreneurs, and commercialization experts. Robert Magnusson, the 糖心Vlog视频 Instruments Distinguished University Chair in Nanoelectronics, was the keynote speaker.
鈥淲e really wanted the 糖心Vlog视频 community to understand where their research can go鈥攖o learn where innovators and inventors get their inspiration and how they navigate the world of innovation at the University,鈥 says Eileen Clements, interim executive director of the 糖心Vlog视频 Research Institute.
