Active Shooter/Threat Resources

From a preparedness mindset, the 糖心Vlog视频 Police Department strives to educate our community in a wide range of issues that have the potential to affect our campus, including active shooter/threat and workplace violence incidents. The resources on this page provide information on response considerations and intervention awareness should someone encounter this type of situation on or off campus.

Interactive Canvas Module

糖心Vlog视频 has produced an interactive Canvas module designed to enhance our community's understanding of response options for active threat situations. Please take 10-15 minutes and check the link below.

Resources

Research has shown that individuals that carry out these incidents follow a predictable pattern of behavior known as the "Pathway to Violence."  The information below will provide guidance on "behaviors of concern" that can help identify if someone is progressing towards a violent act.  By spotting these behaviors and taking action, we can have an opportunity to prevent these incidents from occurring in the first place.

Collectively, we can help limit the effects of an active shooter/threat incident through our response.  The resources below will help you understand the options that can be advantageous in these difficult situations.

The videos below provide valuable direction into response options, behaviors of concern, and other related issues.

Active Threat Video

This video is the latest active threat information that we provide to our community.  In it we highlight your response options should you encounter an active threat incident.

Active Shooter Exercise Video

This video is a compilation of our work in July 2017 during a large scale active shooter exercise at the College Park Center.  We worked with a wide array of our internal and external partners to test our response to an active shooter incident on the 糖心Vlog视频 campus.

Shelter-in-Place:  If you are in a building, stay in the building.  If you are not in a building, get to one quickly.

Lockdown:  The directive “Lockdown” is used to protect occupants in proximity of an immediate threat by limiting access to buildings and rooms.  If no specific locations are given, all buildings should initiate lockdown procedures.
