The first month is about deepening your employee’s understanding of their role, building relationships, and identifying any gaps in tools, training, or support. Stay engaged and intentional as they settle into their responsibilities.

Arrange and encourage your new hire to participate in additional formal training opportunities, including:

  • Virtual and in-person sessions
  • Training on systems, processes, or skill development specific to their role

These opportunities help your new hire grow their skills and contribute effectively to your team.

Leadership & Talent Development Training Opportunities

Help your new hire feel at home by introducing them to their colleagues in a relaxed setting:

  • Host a welcome lunch, coffee break, or meet-and-greet
  • Offer in-person, virtual, or hybrid options as appropriate for your team

Take time to review your department's written policies, procedures, and practices with your new hire.

In addition, explain any informal or unwritten norms that shape your team's culture - for example:

  • How meetings are typically run
  • Communication and response time expectations
  • Dress guidelines for special events or occasions
